Warning: There’s some slightly not-safe-for-work imagery at the opening of this video. I’ve stared pretty intently at the film. And while there’s not much that would directly lead it to an “R” rating, it’s still a little risque for the cubicle farm. Try to watch this one at home. Bad Romance by Quixotica came highly recommended to me by Selserene . How could I not leap to check out a video with that kind of recommendation? When I viewed the film, I was in no way disappointed. Quixotica managed to create a breathtaking, beautiful video. Some of the dialogue is a little funny. “Purr for daddy” has become one of my favorite joke-lines around the house, and you can imagine how much my beloved fiancee loves hearing it. But I think Quixotica created this video with that kind of satire in mind, and I think she really drove home the genre and theme of her video. It’s about betrayal and hope, and she relies on a certain level of tongue-in-cheek self-awareness to keep those themes from becoming over-powering. If it had been any more over the top, it would have entered Twi light levels of angsty silliness. Quixotica should be commended for her artistic vision, and her ability to bring together video imagery with a wonderful soundtrack. I truly hope she picks up a second installment for this video, because I’d like to see where the story goes. Interested in the wide world of machinima ? Achievement Wh0re is a new song by Gigi and Nation . (Nation was once Abandonation , but I’m not sure if the label change is purposeful, or just a hip contraction.) The video was created by WoPairs , who shows an excellent eye for character portraiture in this piece. The song is dedicated to those who seek out achievements to the cost of all else. I’m not much of an achievement guy, so I found the send-up of it to be pretty amusing. I guess I see how some folks are really into them, but achievements feel like one really long grind to me. Notably, this piece is an entirely original song. And while I always feel out of my depth evaluating rap, I definitely salute Gigi and Nation for expanding in that direction. It’s fantastic to see the pair growing as artists, and creating new art in the musical belf-o-sphere. I’m interested in seeing what they might do next, if this video’s success encourages them to keep creating new stuff. Interested in the wide world of machinima ? This is a movie that will bring screams of joy to many of you. Ian Beckman has released Azerothian Super Villains – Episode 7 . Kael’thas continues to be the mainstay of the series, with his trademark voice and childish antics. Little shivers of glee still shoot up and down my spine at Beckman’s masterful portrayal of the Dark Belf Lord. My favorite part of this episode is the Team Rocket parody. Something about Arthas leading his team in a cute little poem just feels right. While I’m not foolish enough to believe Blizzard would include such a thing in Icecrown Citadel , you better believe that poem’s going to be in my head every time I show down against him. The story progresses fairly well, with the old gang reunited by the end. I don’t know. I love all of the characters, but Kael’thas steals the show to such an amazing degree that I sometimes feel like Illidan is hogging the Dark Belf Lord’s limelight. The final teaser does seem to promise more in the future for Kael’thas, so here’s hoping the next installment isn’t too far off. Interested in the wide world of machinima ? Giordano posted about Trev and Eroth: Desperate Measures over at Myndflame . This is just the trailer for the movie, but it has the benefit of mostly being made up from actual footage. The reason that’s a big deal, if you don’t already know, is that many machinima trailers use slices and snippets from in-game footage or other movies that are never actually repeated in the machinima itself. This technique is usually use to give the author a springboard into inspiration, and help them get their thoughts together. I’m not quite sure what to make of Trev and Eroth . It’s supposed to end up a four-piece story, which is pretty exciting when you consider the scope and intricacy of such a plot. Gnomes as antagonists are also a huge plus for the film. However, I just think it’s way too early to lay any judgement on Giordano’s work, since we’ve yet to see the final movie. Trailers can only go so far. The plot definitely seems viable, though, so I’m curious to see how it ends up. Interested in the wide world of machinima ? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch ! The Wolvar are one of my favorite parts of Wrath of the Lich King , and I’m darn happy that they’re finally getting their moment in the sun. Stone Falcon Productions has brought the love for Wolvar to the public in their mockumentary called Among the Badger Men . Among the Badger Men is an amazing piece of work, especially when you consider the team created this piece in a mere 48 hours. The voice acting is spot on. The music is well selected and perfectly matches the “action” of the film. The plot is wonderfully complex, with enough moving parts to hold the audience’s attention through the entire movie. I especially enjoy the characterization of the Badger Men. I grant that the way the Badger Men (People) are portrayed doesn’t really match the Wolvar from in-game text, but it’s still pretty amusing how they react to the explorer with straight-faced amusement. You should definitely take the time to check out this movie. It’s a little longer than most videos we feature here, but i promise it’s worth the time. Interested in the wide world of machinima ?
