Warning: There’s some slightly not-safe-for-work imagery at the opening of this video. I’ve stared pretty intently at the film. And while there’s not much that would directly lead it to an “R” rating, it’s still a little risque for the cubicle farm. Try to watch this one at home. Bad Romance by Quixotica came highly recommended to me by Selserene . How could I not leap to check out a video with that kind of recommendation? When I viewed the film, I was in no way disappointed. Quixotica managed to create a breathtaking, beautiful video. Some of the dialogue is a little funny. “Purr for daddy” has become one of my favorite joke-lines around the house, and you can imagine how much my beloved fiancee loves hearing it. But I think Quixotica created this video with that kind of satire in mind, and I think she really drove home the genre and theme of her video. It’s about betrayal and hope, and she relies on a certain level of tongue-in-cheek self-awareness to keep those themes from becoming over-powering. If it had been any more over the top, it would have entered Twi light levels of angsty silliness. Quixotica should be commended for her artistic vision, and her ability to bring together video imagery with a wonderful soundtrack. I truly hope she picks up a second installment for this video, because I’d like to see where the story goes. Interested in the wide world of machinima ? Giordano posted about Trev and Eroth: Desperate Measures over at Myndflame . This is just the trailer for the movie, but it has the benefit of mostly being made up from actual footage. The reason that’s a big deal, if you don’t already know, is that many machinima trailers use slices and snippets from in-game footage or other movies that are never actually repeated in the machinima itself. This technique is usually use to give the author a springboard into inspiration, and help them get their thoughts together. I’m not quite sure what to make of Trev and Eroth . It’s supposed to end up a four-piece story, which is pretty exciting when you consider the scope and intricacy of such a plot. Gnomes as antagonists are also a huge plus for the film. However, I just think it’s way too early to lay any judgement on Giordano’s work, since we’ve yet to see the final movie. Trailers can only go so far. The plot definitely seems viable, though, so I’m curious to see how it ends up. Interested in the wide world of machinima ? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch ! It could be hard to imagine that our favorite four-button face-smashing Retribution Paladins were once less than superstars. However, the long-lived among us remember that in vanilla WoW , Paladins were largely buff dispensers in dresses, armed with a couple heals and the super-sexy Tier 2 Judgement set. In memory of the Paladins of that bygone era, Greyfoo has written the Pally DPS Song . Greyfoo’s song definitely has a handful of chuckle-worthy moments. I have to admit that it really drummed up some nostalgia for me. And while my Paladin sure isn’t rocking the Arena ladder, I still have to acknowledge that he’s doing about a billion times better than he was in the original game. I found Greyfoo’s animation suited just fine to his song. The music is fun and low-key, but satisfying. I hope Greyfoo had a good time creating this video, and that he comes back around to do more. It probably makes me sound like the biggest fanboy ever to say so, but I think that Cranius may be my favorite musical performer right now. Something appeals to me about the emotion and earnestness he brings to his music, and the interesting arrangements he creates in each song. His work is unique and compelling, and I look forward to each new song he produces. That’s why it’s so exciting to see Legs and Cranius release The Story . Just like in Wrought , Legs has again managed to create a compelling story in the machinima. Each tableau and action fits Cranius’s music perfectly. There’s really absolutely nothing negative I could say about her work in The Story . Hell, it’s so good I’m probably going to put this video up on the overhead at my own wedding. When my fiancee and I finished watching it, we both D’awwwwed-out-loud. I think Legs and Cranius are an unparalleled team. Their work blends together amazingly, and I look forward to seeing what they might create next together. Interested in the wide world of machinima ? Today’s video is a fan trailer for the upcoming patch 3.3 . You might have heard of it. A few million screaming Alliance and Horde are going to kick down the door to Icecrown Citadel and have a few words with the Lich King. Those words will probably be things like “Oh, god, my face!” and “Not the bees!” This patch 3.3 fanmade trailer doesn’t use game footage or new voice acting. Instead, Daneimp went into the archives from previous Warcraft games and strung together a series of official Blizzard cinematics. He’s basically outlining the story in a montage of Arthas moments. While I don’t think trailers like this fall within the realm of machinima, I always get excited to see videos created by players who are just as psyched about new content as I am. You don’t do this kind of thing because you’re bored on a lazy Sunday, and looking for something to kill a few hours. And, at the end of the day, Daneimp’s video was fun for a few minutes, and I share his enthusiasm for the new content. Interested in the wide world of machinima ?
