We can’t believe it either – Turpster has been let loose on WoW.com to bring you videos from in and around the World of Warcraft! You’ve heard him on the WoW Insider Show , and now see him on TurpsterVision right here on WoW.com. It’s been far too long. I’ve been playing loads of games in-between knuckling down with some university work , I’ve constructed a website for a Bristol based landscape gardener , and I’ve been on a couple of different podcasts . Yet with all this I’ve missed out on gracing the net with WoW.com’s number 1 Video Podcast! In the immortal words of Tychus J. Findlay, ‘ Hell, it’s about time! ‘ But I wouldn’t just return to your screens empty handed, oh no, I come bearing gifts! A mighty tankard overflowing with ale — at least it could be if you are lucky enough to win it and fill it with some booze or other beverage of your choosing. The stein itself is a beautiful piece of art and construction. To really enjoy the details, check out the gallery below the break. It’s good to be back. If you’ve been around the World of Warcraft community for any length of time you’ve probably found and participated in some of the myriad of different game related communities. If you go to the blog search page and search for Warcraft you’ll see over 8 million related entries. There are also tons of additional podcasts on iTunes other such services. And then there are the forums. Besides the official forums, you have other sites that have created forums. There are forums like MMO Champion , WoW Raid , Elitist Jerks to just name a few. We haven’t even touched the Facebook fan sites or Twitter #wow or #warcraft discussions. But yet, now we have another way to talk about our favorite game. Google has a new collaboration tool out for use (by invitation only at the moment), Google Wave . Right now it’s still in Alpha and is full of bugs and performance issues, but it’s a tool that seems to have a lot of possibilities. For example, if you search for waves by using “with:public Warcraft” you a number of public waves ranging from general wow discussions to server or class specific debates. Personally, I’ve seen it used for Instant Messaging about patch 3.3 , collaborating on documents, and even being used by people to play a role playing game. Basically, it seems like a tool that has a ton of potential. (Please understand that none of us here at WoW.com have any wave invitations to hand out.) So here’s what I’m wondering. What communities do you participate in? Do you participate in the WoW related Twitter, Facebook, blog or podcast community? Which ones? How about Wave? Are you using Google Wave to talk about Warcraft? We’d love to know what communities you’re using and think people need to use also. So grab a cup a coffee and let’s talk about it. We’re not sure what this is. Hell, we’re not even sure this is about Warcraft . But it came across the @warcraft twitter this afternoon with the tag “It’s Coming – 11/25.” That’s Wednesday, so I gather we’ll see either the next image or the answer to it then. This isn’t the first time Blizzard has played the image game with us — back in 2008 there was a huge deal over the Diablo 3 runes that were appearing on Blizzard’s site before the Worldwide Invitational . Could this be something like that again? We’re not sure. It’s legitimate speculation, but this is Twitter and not a big PR/Marketing rollout, so who knows. Then again, it’s possible Blizzard is learning how to correctly use social media and we’re feeding into their marketing campaign, doing all the work for them. In which case, well played. Tune in Wednesday for more on this oddity. Filed under: Analysis / Opinion , Blizzard What’s @warcraft up to? originally appeared on WoW.com on Mon, 23 Nov 2009 14:50:00 EST. It was only a matter of time. Blizzard has just put up a pair of in-game pets for World of Warcraft for sale on the Blizzard Store. Would you pay $10 for a Pandaren Monk or a baby Kel’Thuzad?
