Ghostcrawler responded recently to a post asking about stat growth on items , and the results were pretty interesting. The player asked if Blizzard had any plans to cut back the stat growth on items before we reach +2000 spellpower, for example. GC had this to say: “They’re just numbers. We don’t think it starts getting scary until the human mind literally has trouble processing the digits. If your new staff has 152,420 spell power, well, yeah that’s a mouthful. But if your new staff has 4000 spell power, the only thing that can really be freaking you out is that 4000 is just a really big number compared to the 100 spell power you might be used to. Automobiles used to cost hundreds of dollars instead of tens of thousands of dollars too…. :) ” Well, sure, but what about in Cataclysm? With all those stat changes you guys talked about at BlizzCon , there has to be some surprises on the way when we see our first glimpse of Cataclysm gear. Icecrown raid access progression

Gold Secrets

Blizzard has just released a lengthy statement on the way the new Icecrown raid in patch 3.3 will be progressively accessed. Some of the key points: Icecrown Citadel is going to be broken up into four distinct sections: The Lower Spire, Plagueworks, Crimson Hall, and Frostwing Halls. We plan on releasing these four sections of Icecrown Citadel over time and not all immediately when patch 3.3.0 goes live. The first section that opens will include the Lord Marrowgar, Lady Deathwhisper, Icecrown Gunship Battle, and Deathbringer Saurfang encounters. “Several weeks” until the next encounters become available. Players may not attempt any Heroic versions of 10 player encounters until they have defeated the Lich King in a 10 player raid. The same goes for 25 mans. This means no heroic Icecrown until after the Lich King is defeated, which will apparently be, at the earliest, in a couple of months. The four most difficult bosses have a limited number of attempts on them each week. Once those attempts are gone, you have to wait another week to try again. There will be no explicit rewards for defeating the Lich King with a specific number of attempts remaining as there was with Trial of the Grand Crusader. There will also not be an achievement to complete Icecrown Citadel without being defeated by a boss encounter, or letting a raid member die. (i.e. A Tribute to Insanity). In the weeks and months after all twelve encounters are unlocked, additional attempts against the final four boss encounters become available. Over time, after all bosses are defeated, players will begin to get a buff, making defeating bosses easier. This is a jam packed statement from Blizzard on the mechanics of the raid zone, and outlines exactly what your raiding guild will be doing in the weeks and months ahead. If you are going to ever set foot in the Icecrown Citadel raid, you need to know this information. The full statement after the break. Each week Dominic Hobbs brings you Blood Pact . “Oh how I love the feel of it, the way it burns your skin and weaves evil thoughts through the mind…” ~ Impsy With patch 3.3 looking evermore imminent and the changes to warlock talents and spells seeming to have settled down, it’s a good time to take a look at what we can expect from the next expansion. This isn’t going to be a review of the fights and encounters in Icecrown — though I’m sure we’ll get to that at some point — this is a look at how our various raiding builds have changed. I’ve already reported on most of them as they hit the PTR in previous articles, so I’m not going to dwell on the changes themselves. You can read up on this detail here , here , here and here . I wouldn’t say that lock talents are broken at the moment but it certainly seems as if we’re left little option when it comes to raiding. You have destruction for damage and a demonology bi… err… buff spec . The overriding impression I have looking at the patch 3.3 changes is that there will be more choice to play the spec you like. Something we’ve not had for a very long time. After the break I’ll list the changes from the patch notes for reference and then we’ll get down to how that shakes out. Here is a great article I came across when googling here it is
Ultimate WoW Guide

We’ve been talking a lot about Patch 3.3’s new Dungeon Finder feature lately, and for good reason — it’s leaps and bounds better than the LFG tool we’ve been dealing with for the past several years. One of the features that’s caught everyone’s attention is the great reward that level 80 players get for completing random WotLK Heroic dungeons. Well, if you’re a lower-level player using the tool to run random dungeons at your level, it turns out you get something too. The Satchel of Helpful Goods is a level-scaling bag o’ rewards, which EU Community Manager Wryxian says will contain one piece each from two sets of loot rewards. Quoth the crocolisk: …these satchels are rewards from doing a random dungeon through the LFG tool at lower levels. There’s two groups of items that can be inside them. One includes bracers, rings, necklaces and cloaks. The other has belts, boots, gloves and shoulder items. What you’ll find in the satchel is one item from each group, and this is also further influenced by a ten level range. So for example, what is in a satchel received for completing a dungeon between levels 20 and 30 might be a nice necklace and some gloves, but from a dungeon between 50 and 60 you might get a ring and some new boots. The level ranges he refers to are 5-15, 15-25, 24-34, 35-45, 46-55, 56-60, 60-64, and 65-70. Wryxian indicates that the two item groups are set up so as not to trivialize quest rewards from the zones in your level range, and to make sure that you’re always receiving a variety of gear. It’s unknown at this time whether these’ll be blues we’ve seen before, a la Elven Spirit Claws , or whether they’re newly-created blues with the express purpose of being Satchel rewards. Still, pretty cool. Oh, and you get money too. Patch 3.3 is the last major patch of Wrath of the Lich King . With the new Icecrown Citadel 5-man dungeons and 10/25-man raid arriving soon, patch 3.3 will deal the final blow to Arthas. WoW.com’s Guide to Patch 3.3 will keep you updated with all the latest patch news.
