Cataclysm, the new World of Warcraft Expansion , is coming. The word will be ripped apart, including the Goblin homeland of Kezan, and many things are changing, including those Goblin Alliances. Those little green guys (and gals) who’ve been running the blimp service for the Horde, and the Arenas for the Alliance and Horde, are going to drop their neutrality and become full fledged members of the Horde. At least… one faction will. The player Goblins will be from the Bilgewater Cartel, hailing form the isle of Kazan. Kazan be destroyed and one of the princes will sell out his own people in the process. The Horde will intervene along the way (and who knows if  THAT story may change before the expansion goes live?)  That one faction of Goblins will join the Horde. Can we presume the others will remain neutral? This may make for some interesting relations between Goblin factions and between player and non-player Goblins. If Blizzard does this right it may encourage players to actually read the quest text. Now Cataclysm is a long ways off and I’m quite certain there will be a significant period of beta testing of all the new features, new races, and so on. In addition to possible story changes, right now the Goblins seem to have a bunch of cool racials attached to something called their “Goblin All-in-1-der-Belt.” It does seem a bit overpowered right now and my guess is that it’s a “let’s kick around a few ideas and see what works” sort of thing. There’s a small speed buff, a summonable bank servant, faction discounts (from being great traders,) an Alchemy bonus (Alchemy??) and a rocket launcher and rocket jump device. Anyone want to place bets on which of these a) actually make it to the live game and 2) cause the most weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth from other players? “Rocket Jump,” a forward leap on a 2 minute cooldown, seems to be in the lead for the latter award. I imagine it being a nice little pounce for ambushing Rogues to use. A hunter lays down his flare, the Goblin Rogue Rocket Jumps past it to attack the Hunter anyway… It’s not Shadowstep, but it should be interesting. Some questions come to mind, though… Will player Goblins be able to speak to Alliance types so that they can swing deals? Will Goblins be hunted down by Alliance types due to all the deals where the Alliance got the short end of the stick? You know how nasty those Gnomes can be. Will the other Goblin factions create a blimp service for the Alliance, to proove that they really are neutral? Will there be something akin to the Fernegi “Rules of Aquisition” which Goblins can learn? Or will that be left to the role players? For the Horde! Share this on del.icio.us Digg this! As you should know Blizzcon 2009 is out today on Auguest 21, 2009. This is greats news for a majority of the world as this is what we have been waiting to hear from Blizzard, also Cataclysm is announced and confirmed to be true, even the World of Warcraft Launcher is displaying the glorious image, as shown to the left. So are all the rumors true? Well we are not sure yet, be we will let you know as the day goes on. More than likely we will get a strong taste of what is to wait for in 4.0 and that makes me VERY happy, because if even 50% of the things that are said actually comes true, that will be breath taking. While we wait for the official announcement on Blizzard’s end you can review some of the supposed patch notes of 4.0 and see how they will compare to the actual news. Thats all for now, until the story officially arrives. Check back often for the latest updates on 4.0 Cataclysm. World of Warcraft Cataclysm Leaked is major news in the blogosphere this past week, and since its so burning-hot I figure I would recap a few things and of course add my own wise ass remarks to it. Deal? Sounds like one to me. WoW Cataclysm is confirmed leaked so this is not some fan-hype hippy bullshit and if this is not true then there are some horrible joke tellers out there in the wide world of the interwebs. Most of this information came through from WoW.com (formerly WoW Insider) which is normally a reputable source of daily Warcraft information and this is what they said in their opening line. WoW.com has learned through multiple sources close to the situation some details on the next expansion, to be called  World of Warcraft: Cataclysm . So obviously there is a way that it leaked and well, it did. There is going to be some things discussed here that you may think is crazy but it is all other peoples beliefs, none of my own unless I state otherwise. There are tons of WoW lore players, and that means a lot of thinkers, which means a lot of new posts talking about what they believe will happen in it, so blame their brains not mine. Level Cap – 85 Highly reliable sites suggest the new level cap will be 85 and that Blizzard will make it more rewarding to get one level instead of saying “Only 4 levels to go”. New Race/Class Combo’s There will not be any new classes introduced in Cataclysm but these following classes have been put in… Human Hunter Orc Mage Night Elf Mage Dwarf Mage Blood Elf Warrior Dwarf Shaman Undead Hunter Tauren Paladin Tauren Priest Gnome Priest Troll Druid New Races: Worgen/Goblin Goblins Deathwing once again sought the services of the goblins, as slaves. Unable to refuse such an offer, the goblins were enslaved by him. A large group have resisted however. With their previous homes devastated by the cataclysm, they escaping to an island off the coast of The Barrens. As they strive to recover, they come across an Orc captured on an Alliance ship and rescue him. The Orc turns out to be none other than Thrall himself, and in return offers the Goblins a place within the Horde. These events are carried out in a quest line, allowing players to experience first-hand the reasons behind the Goblins’ shift from neutrality.. Worgen The cataclysm has cracked open the Greymane Wall, finally revealing what has happened to the kingdom of Gilneas and its citizens. With the Worgen curse taken hold, they have found a partial cure, allowing thme to retain their Human minds even when transformed. Venturing forth from Gilneas and seeking help from the Alliance, they have decided to join them, to combat the new threats of Cataclysm. New Content: Updated Azeroth, Flying in Azeroth, Updated Old Dungeons Updated Azeroth The Barrens will be split into two separate zones of two different level bands. Azshara will become a low level (~10-20) zone. Some of the zones like the Thousand Needles will be flooded. Durotar is wrecked and apparently Orgrimmar could be destroyed. A new Orc city is rebuilt over the course of the expansion. Gnomeregan will be part of the expansion as well and gnomes might be able to reclaim their capital. Wailing Caverns will be become a lush tropical area as a result of the druid’s magic. The Blackrock Spire will erupt and a new version of Blackrock Mountains will be available. Flying in Azeroth This has been sought for along time now and Blizzard may be meeting the consumers demands. With this releasing it would also mean that some locations will not be accessible by flying mounts such as; Hyjal (present) Uldum Gilneas Updated Old Dungeons Onyxia’s Lair was the first to have received a makeover in 3.2.2 but that was only the beginning. Since most of the leveling will take place in the updated Azeroth that will mean the dungeons must be updated to meet leveling demands. Lets think Deadmines (80), hmmm. The middle age crisis is here, the Orc has hit level 30. I feel the need for a hot new sports car… er… mount, but I can’t get one for another 10 levels!! Bah. So I took my frustrations out on Sharptalon.  This is big griffon thing that flies near the Horde area (Splintertree post) in Ashenvale. Used to be that handing in the quest would give you some 25 Badges of Justice , but now it’s just a worthless cloak. However, if you’ve done the other two hunts (a big bear and a big cat) then you’ll get a pile of XP for finishing this one. Time to level – 1 day, 20 hours, and some change. Not too awful, considering their was some time spent skinning, flower picking, running to Org to buy new gear, a bit of wandering, etc. Eternea has decided to play the PvP twink game, which is cool. Got my head handed to me by a (Human) Rogue Twink the other day. Ouch. He was only 5 levels lower than me… Flower picking, why am I doing flower picking (herbalism?) 1) I’m going for the heal, since Warriors can never have too much healing. 2) I’m going to stash the herbs and at level 55 make a Death Knight and level Inscription on the DK. Why not create the DK now? That’s not doable for new players and the Gnome and I want the tips here to be accessible to new players, not just the crusty ol’ experts out there. Earned something like 5k gold on my banker, some of which has been spent (bunch of Frostweave bags, for example) and some of which has been sunk into more inventory to resell. So, leveling… I was using the iDemise leveling guide (yep, really) till about level 24 or so. As far as I’m concerned, the grade is FAIL .  Minor issues first, then the big one, which really might not apply to you: The guide is an addon which shows a small window on your main screen. The quests are listed in order and a waypoint arrow points the way to the next quest. This is fine, except that you cannot scroll through the quests. So if you want to skip to the next step you have to delete the current step from the guide. Wouldn’t it have been easier to just add scrolling? The guide does tell you when to go train, but probably doesn’t point you to the correct trainer and, if you’re not ready to level or you’ve passed that point already, you’ll have to manually delete that step. For some reason it does not tell you to pick up flypoints when hitting a new area and it assumes you know how to get to a new areas. You probably do if you’ve been playing awhile, but not if you’re a new player. While the guide does track how many of this and that you’re supposed to pick up for any given quest, it give no info on how to complete the quest, pointing you to the quest log. Not a biggie, but a previous iDemise guide did give you tips to complete quests. This guide will send you into the various instances in the game, which is fine if you want to do them and can grab a group. If you’re in a solo frame of mind then you’ll fall a bit behind as you skip those quests. The big one – My computer is a bit behind the times and it gets a bit laggy, here and there. I get the loot lag fairly often. When running the iDemise guide I got a 6 second freeze after killing mobs. Which is awkward if you’re fighting more than one. Kill a mob, freeze. Next mob, freeze. Unfrreeze, dead, corpse run. Rinse and repeat.I unloaded the guide and the kill lag was completely gone. I sent that note to the iDemise people, but they haven’t (yet) responded. Hopefully they do. If you have a hot computer you probably won’t even notice this issue. There are a couple of other issues, but I think that’s enough for now. The current guide looks like a beta test to me. Their previous guides provided more info and the addons didn’t lag my system, at all. As far as I’m concerned, right now, with my system, the iDemise guide gets the big not recommended. I switched to Zygor’s guide, which I’ve been using for awhile and consider to be the best thing out there for fast leveling. It addresses all the above issues, doesn’t lag my system, and the author (and team) actually answer emails and their user forum posts. It’s highly recommended. If you read their forum you should find a couple of posts by people who got their characters to 80 in a bit over 6 days. On to 40 Ok, now it’s time to blast to 40 and get that faster mount. The bonecrushing power of the Retribution Paladin is an awesome thing, isn’t it? As I blast through the Blood Elf starting area… Oh, waitaminute…. No talents, yet. So the Gnome came up with this idea to blast each class of each race to level 10, ASAP. Why? To see which class/race combo is the fastest. Sounds strange? Well, who understands Gnomes, anyway? Now, since I already have way to many alts this means that I will be deleting either unused toons, or deleting the new ones after they get to 10. Now, about that Paladin. Level 10 came in 2 hours, 16 minutes or so. The name was from the random name picker thing in the character creation area. The basic routine, of course, is to buff with “Blessing of Might” at all times, and, from level 4 on, lay the hammer down with some form of Judgement. In this case, Judgement of Light. All the while swinging a really big sword. Now, since I already have a 44 Blood Elf  (Retribution) Pally, it’s not likely that I’ll play this one again. Share this on del.icio.us Digg this! Paladin Leveling to the Mighty 10

While Orc and Gnome is great at serving up random guides and posts all the time, we are not so keen on sticking to a lot of things, which keeps us interesting. As I am working on leveling my Gnome Warlock (Trayaer) and making my Gnome Mage (Eternea) PvP ready, I know a thing or two about getting them to level 10 fast as hell! This is going to get you from levels 1-10 as fast as possible and we are going to document it to the max! So sit back, take in some humble knowledge and let your brain feast. Let me explain myself… I know lots of people who are new to the game and they are not sure what their favorite class is, and that is understandable, but let me propose something to you, wouldn’t you rather try out all the classes to see how they work before sticking to them? Well now you can. I (Gnome) will be looking through the Alliance side of Low Level Leveling (1-10) and the quickest ways to do everything, from grinding to questing. There will not be a lot involved and that is why this series of guides will be great. This Gnome shall be trying out all different possible combinations of various classes and races on the Alliance side of course, and record times for you all to see what you would rather play, I know, you can thank me later. Now this post is going to be linking to the other posts when they are completed so you can always check back on this one so give it a Favorite, or Bookmark or whatever the hell you want to call it and check back on it daily and see how things are doing.
